Need a Toque Fairy?

We were recently introduced to a brave little girl named Evan.  She had lost all of her hair to chemo and needed a Toque Fairy.  Above is a picture of this brave little girl wearing a toque that she picked out.  She was the inspiration to our "Being a Toque Fairy" program.  This is a chance for us Toque Fairies to give back as we feel that no child should know this terrible disease.  Should you know any little person combating cancer (in Alberta) that needs a Toque Fairy, please e-mail us at toquefairies@gmail.com.  We will make him/her a toque of her choice (free of charge, of course).  We've already made toques for 

4 brave children and will keep making toques for any brave child fighting Cancer.

Bring on the dolls!

Us Toque Fairies crochet a wide variety of items from toques to afghans to dolls.  Our dolls are always popular at craft sales (and always sell out).  We've made many adorable dolls this season.  Check our some of the dolls that we have made.

We make adult hats too!

We love our kids to pieces.  Each have their own trunk of crocheted hats.  This is why you'll mostly see kid hats on our facebook page and blog.  However, we are both into the crochet hat trends and like to make hats that appeal to the "grown ups."  Here are a number of our hats meant for grown ups, which of course can be made in any size from newborn to adult:

All of these hats look GREAT on.  They are incredible comfortable and warm (but not too warm).  Wouldn't you like one of these hats as part of your fall/winter fashion accessories?  We can make them in any colour combination.  The flowers are removable.  You can purchase additional flowers to match your outfit.  All of the above hats are available for immediate purchase.  They are $20 each for the hats without a brim and $25 each for the hats with a brim.  We hope to see some more Toque Fairy hats be worn around Canada!

We all know how it is to shop online.  You see an item that you like, but you are unsure of how it fits or looks when you have the item in hand.  Tanya and (Karla) have been making toques for years with the softest yarns and we are sure that our toques will fit you.   Why not see for yourself?  A friend loves our toques so much that she wanted to have a "Toque Fairies" toque party.  We (Karla and Tanya) would come to your house with a sample of our designs. This would be a perfect opportunity for you (and your friends/family) to try the toques on or talk to us about any ideas that you have for toques. We love custom orders! Camping dreather (dreadful weather)

The Toque Fairies went camping this weekend. The weather wasn't the nicest for camping. We got out our crochet needles and sat outside, out of the rain. Here is our rainy weather inspiration: the pig tail toque. My daughter is obsessed with hers. I am making one with brown braids for my older daughter.

For the males,  why not try a bearded fisherman toque?

Toques just for Winter?

We have a lot of people commenting that we must not be busy during the summer months.  After all, toques are usually only worn in the winter time (although, the current Calgary weather may have more toque opportunities than a typical Spring or Summer).  Once the weather warms up, Toque Fairies have come up with a few options for Summer fashions.  All of these hats are made with a cotton yarn, which protects from the sun while keeping you cool and preventing a sweaty head.

This is an adorable Tennis Hat with a brim to protect from the sun.

Bucket hat.  It can be made with a ribbon or a flower.  Want a longer brim?  Just ask.  

We can tailor these hats to fit any preference.

Adorable hairbands.  The possible colour combinations are endless.  

Floppy brimmed sun hat.  Absolutely adorable with a ribbon weaved into the hat.

Where the Wild Things Are

So we haven't posted any pictures of our hats to the blog yet, so I thought I would get started on that.  The first gallery is full of fun hats made to look like animals, but with a funky edge to them.  These hats are fantastic for props in photo shoots for young children and newborn babies.  We hope you enjoy them and would love to hear your comments.  Keep checking back to see more pictures of our latest creations.

 S'Monkey Hat - this has been one of our biggest sellers.  Very popular for boys or girls (flower is added for girls version) This is the 'standard' colour, but we can do any accent colour you choose

Li'l Stinker Hat

This hat could be for a boy or a girl.  The flower is on a clip and can be removed to make it a boy's hat, or worn with the flower for a girl.  Flower could also be worn alone
